Handy tool box for anyone involved in building a website
An extremely useful guide and to be honest something we use ourselves just to check!
Have a think about the points below to see if your website is up to scratch.
Try marking your website out of 10 for the following:

Does the homepage sum up what you do instantly?
Are your contact details clearly visible and easy to read?

Is the first page of your website quick to download?
Text on your website should be clear and easy to read using a standard font unless in graphics.
Can users easily navigate to the other pages of your website without having to figure out complex menu systems and dropdowns?
Have you got a site map detailing all relevant pages within your website?
Is the content important to the customer? Ensure your talking to them, not about you!
Try not to repeat content throughout your pages, ensure each page is useful and gives only the information that pages needs to.
Do you use examples of your products? Why describe a product if you could use a photo.
Try to stay away from using “click here”, it’s not that useful and you could use more descriptive text about where the link is going to take you.
Do you use strong “call to actions”? Ensure the user has something to do as soon as they come onto your homepage – making it easy for them to stay on your website.
Try to make any registration process on your website only 1 or 2 stages long, if not the user may get frustrated and leave the website.
Check through your website for broken links, spelling – ensuring all the graphics work correctly, videos loads up and all processes do not cause errors.
Title each individual page with reference to its content. This will help with search engines and also give the user a clear definition of that each particular page is about.
